After Wachovia and First Union merged in 2001 the challenge was to build a site that reflected the new branding as well as promote principles of user centered design. After extensive user testing and many rounds of collaborative iteration this design was chosen to be Wachovia's new online presence. The people who were tested felt that the design was easy to scan, navigate, and gave them the impression of being “dynamic.” The design had to undergo minor cosmetic changes for legal reasons before launch but it performed and tested extremely well for several years. Customers loved the no-frills simpleness of the design.
